Familiarze yourself with the sequence of steps you can expect for your upcoming fence project.
You've made the decision to proceed with the proposal. Now it's time to sign the contract and permit package, and provide payment for the deposit (typically, 50% of the contract price). Material is ordered, and the permit package is submitted to the Building Department.
Easement Agreements are needed only when the fence crosses a utility easement. Approval must be obtained from all utility companies affected. Signed approval must be received from all utility companies prior to submitting permit application.
Other companies wait 2 weeks for permit issuance (sometimes even 6-8 weeks!). Because Lawrence Fence Solutions is licensed by a State Certified General Contractor, our permit applications take priority in the Building Department, and issuance is typically same-day.
The same day we submit the permit application, we will submit for the undergrounds to be located on the property. This is required by Florida State Law. Utility company personnel will arrive to the property and mark, with flag and spray paint, the underground utilites. After all utility companie have responded, a dig number will be issued.
Our team will contact you with the start date and anticipated timeframe for completion. You will be notified the day of when we are on our way to your property. If possible beforehand, mark all lines that public utilities do not mark (pool pump lines, irrigation lines, etc.) .
Following installation, our team will meet with you to do a final walk-through. This is your opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have of the final product. It is best to address these items (if any!) while the crew is still on site. Final payment is due at the time of completion. Depending on the scope of work, a final inspection may be necessary by the city prior to closing out the permit.
While marking your yard with Sunshine 811 is a helpful precaution, it's not foolproof for avoiding all underground utilities. The markings provide a 2-foot margin of error on either side. Despite our best efforts to hand dig and prevent damage, there is still the chance of line breaks.
We are not liable for damages to utility lines; however, if we notice visible damage, we will notify you so you can arrange for repairs. If we become aware of any damage, we will promptly inform you.
